The outer premises of the Red Fort are free, but if you want to go inside, there will be charges for that. The entry fees for Indians inside the Red Fort is ₹35, and for foreigners, it is ₹550-600. The entry is free for children below 15.

Jama Masjid – You can experience one of India’s largest mosques. The entry is free.

Chandni Chowk – This is the place for all your shopping needs. I’ve been to Chandni Chowk, and this place doesn’t disappoint. It is a slow-cooked, rich mutton stew which is served with thick Khameeri Roti.

If you want to have the traditional Mughlai taste, Mutton Korma is a must. In this, the meat is braised in a flavorful, spiced yogurt and made with a nut-based gravy.

The ultimate street food for meat eaters is kebabs. They came in a variety of Seekh (minced meat), Shami, and Galouti kebabs. They all cooked over charcoal that gives them the smoky barbeque flavour.

Biryani is a dish made to absolute perfection. Biryani is slow-cooked, made with fragrant basmati rice layered with spiced tender meat. And let me tell you there is not a thing called ‘Veg Biryani’ it is just simple Pulao.

Old Delhi is your place to go if you want to taste the Mughlai Cuisine, some restaurants that make top-notch Mughlai food are Karims and Al Jawahar. Eating in a good restaurant would cost between ₹450–₹800.

The Heavy and Creamy North Indian food- Delhi is the birthplace of Butter Chicken. Treat yourself with the tasty, tangy and little touch of sugar Butter Chicken, loaded with cream. The gravy is made by simmering down the chicken in smooth and rich gravy made from tomatoes and butter. Pair it with garlic naan and you get yourself a golden combination in foods. If you are a vegetarian instead of Butter Chicken, go with dal makhani or paneer makhani. That too makes the ultimate duo in food.

Try these foods in Daryaganj Restaurant (Connaught Place) or Gulati Restaurant (Pandara Road). The average cost of a plate will be ₹500–₹2000 per person.

Paranthas—The paranthas are pan-fried or deep-fried flatbread made with the flour dough and filled with boiled potatoes, cottage cheese or vegetables. Always drink from the packaged bottle of water.

Delhiites absolutely love food, and Delhi is a place where you’ll get something from some place that the Delhiites absolutely adore.

Momo is one of those, Momos were introduced to Delhi by Tibetan refugees who fled their homeland in the 1960s. The dish was initially restricted to Tibetan settlements like Majnu Ka Tila but their popularity exploded, and nowadays momos are the mainstream food for every Delhiite, including me.

Another cuisine that Delhiites love is South Indian food. We just love dosa, idli, vada pav, sambar, and that coconut chutney. South Indian food is just a feast for the senses.

Chinese food was/ is and will be THE ultimate street food. Delhiites were introduced to Chinese food in the 1970s and 1980s. The food is then termed as the “Indo-Chinese” (or “Chindian”) style that blends authentic Chinese techniques with robust Indian spices and flavors. Some foods that we absolutely love are chowmein, Manchurian, fried rice, chili chicken, and more.

Now you know about the food Delhi can offer, but the experience does not end here.
